The Turkey's Already Stuffed

Thanksgiving has come and gone.
It sure was a fun long weekend full of
food, parades, and a road trip up to Boston.

Wednesday night before Thanksgiving,
Brittany and I started to prepare some of
the dishes for dinner the next day. I prepared
the sweet potato casserole while Brittany made
her brown-paper-bag apple pie.

Look how high those apples are stacked!
Brittany putting on the topping to the pie.
It was pretty sticky.
Pulling the pie out of the oven.
Yummy apple pie goodness...
...that smells so good!

Thursday morning, Thanksgiving Day,
Brittany and I, along with Anna and her niece,
headed uptown to see the Macy's Thanksgiving
Day Parade. Brittany was pretty excited.
People gathering around 50th and Broadway.
"I love a parade."
Anna thought this might be a good seat
to watch from. It didn't look very comfortable,
or safe, to me. She didn't sit there long.
And the parade begins...
Turkey!
Smurfs!
Pumpkins!
Anna and her niece Morgan.
Snoopy!
Bolt!
(with Miley Cyrus)
A fish swimming down Broadway.
A Rhino Rock?
Dora the Explorer.
Harajuku Girls!
The Energizer Bunny!
Sesame Street!
Japanese Ambassador, Hello Kitty!

After leaving the parade early to meet up with
my friend Jana who drove up from DC, we started
preparing dinner. Here I am getting our 7lb
chicken ready for his debut in the oven.
The girls watching Miracle on 34th Street.
Brittany so proud of her home-made gravy.
The table setting.
The beautiful bird.
Not bad for my first whole chicken.
The spread: Salad, sweet potatoes, glazed carrots,
crescent rolls, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes
and stuffing (not picture gravy and chicken)
Jana, Anna, Morgan and Brittany all ready to dig in.
After the consumption.
Don't worry, we went around the table and shared
what we were thankful for while we were eating.
A little later, we enjoyed some lovely pie--
apple and derby--both made by Brittany.
Amber also came over. We decided that a little
karaoke singing was needed.
Check out Brittany and Jana's character.
"Turn around bright eyes..."

Friday Morning, Brittany, Jana and I took off
for Boston. None of us had ever been, so it was
time to rectify the issue. On the way up, we stopped
for breakfast at Cracker Barrel (another first for me).

I had to take a picture of Jana's car since it has an Arizona
license plate. The car is a looong way from home.

After we got up to Boston, our friends the Barlows
(also friends from Arizona), suggested we go check
out Concord and Lexington to check out the sights.

Saturday was spent checking out the Freedom Trail.
I'll pretty much let these pictures speak for themselves.
"Hey donkey, how's it going? Hey to the mother for me."
Little doggy in an argyle sweater.
Cheers! (the replica)
"One if by land..."
"On" the Freedom Trail.
(with Mike's Pastries that was purchased along the way)
Good Ole' Ironsides (U.S.S. Constitution)
Our one picture with the three of us.
Love this picture.
Beautiful downtown Boston.
Later on Saturday night, we finally cracked opened
the Mike's Pastry box and enjoyed our delicious treats.
All of us got cannolis, except Jana, who got a
Boston Cream Pie instead.
This is a closer shot of Jana's pie.
Brittany finally getting to taste the goodness
that is Mike's cannoli.
I also enjoyed mine!

Sunday:

It was time to head back home (with rain most of the drive
back to New York City...Yuck!)

Goodbye Shaler Lane! Thanks for a wonderful time
Brother and Sister Barlow!

And that was another well spent Thanksgiving
Weekend on the East Coast.

If this wasn't enough pictures for you, check out Brittany's blog.
