A Visit from the Sister

...And now a tale about a sister's adventures in NYC.

After taking a year hiatus, Kari once again made the journey
out to NYC over Memorial Day Weekend to spend time
with, as my brother would say, her favorite little sister
(I'm her only little sister, let alone only real sister...not in-law).

Anyway, after a long/busy week at work, it was time to
spend a long weekend with my sis. Friday morning, our first stop
was to Time Square to check out the stairs at the "somewhat new"
Tkts booth (I hadn't been yet, so it was new to both of us).
We thought we'd check to see if there were any Broadway shows
we really wanted to see, but mostly we just checked out
the stairs and enjoyed the view of Time Square.
Afterward we did a bit of walking around which
we would end up doing a lot of over the weekend.
We eventually made our way down to Madison Square
Park where Kari would experience her first
Shake Shack Burger. Eating would be the other
activity we did a lot of over the weekend, so it's a good thing
we counterbalanced it with all the walking. :)
After a long wait (about an hour and a half),
we finally placed our order, found a table, and
enjoyed our delicious food.
Getting ready to take that first bite.
The newest fan of the Shack was made.
Hmmm, chocolate shake!
Kari's new bracelet I bought her.
Friday evening, after hanging out at the apartment
for a bit, we took a stroll across the Brooklyn Bridge.
Saturday morning brunch at Eatery. Yum!
After brunch we made our way to Central Park.
Awww, sister's in the park. So cute.
Now, when Kari or Mother come to town, there
are always the mandatory jump poses.

Kari's usual...
...and my bell kick.
In honor of our mother, who could not be
with us since she is in Africa, we did our best
interpretations of her "unique" jump/air pose.
First Kari did hers...
...then I did my best "mom" jump.
After all that jumping, we continued on through the park.
Here we are at Belvedere Castle...
A cute squirrel.
On the phone with her hubby.
The rest of Saturday consisted of going to dinner at Max
Brenner's and then me proceeding to get sick (coughing up a lung).
Oh, and I had to go do laundry (actually, during one of our visits
down to the laundry room we started chatting with some
boys and got invited up to their apartment...darn you cold).

After attending church and what ended up being the
Jones Sister Sacrament Meeting (I conducted the music, like usual,
and Kari ened up played the organ), we spent Sunday
evening walking around Battery Park.
We enjoyed are usual trip on the Staten Island Ferry.
Monday morning at breakfast (Max Brenner's again).
Brittany got back from Kentucky just in time to join us.
Another beautiful day! We did a little bit of
shopping and lots of walking.
Lombardi's
Enjoying Rice to Riches on the rooftop.
Thanks Kari for coming out and spending a fun filled weekend
with me. We enjoyed such beautiful weather, which then turned into
a horribly raining June (I believe it rained everyday in June except
for like 4 days...or so I heard and totally believe).

Can't wait for my "little" brother Marc to come make his first visit to NYC.
Only 3 weeks!

Very impressed with the jump poses! You got some serious air! Hopefully one day, soon, before you move on to a different adventure; Phil and I will make it there to visit! and Eat!

I read your blog whenever I get a chance, I love looking at all your pictures! Anyway, this is your cousin Angela in Tucson...yes the same city as your brother, but I don't think he knows that either.
I ran across this the other day and thought of you:http://www.amctv.com/originals/madmen/madmenyourself/
It's a fun way to kill some time!
