Summer in the City

After much anticipation (or lack thereof) I have finally decided to give a recap of some of this summer's highlights.

Early in the summer when Derrick Davis was in town, some of us girls went to a Mets game. I hadn't been for awhile (this was my 4th Mets game since being in NYC) so I decided to made the trek out to Shea Stadium. Plus, they were playing my other "home" team...the Diamondbacks.

Checking out the game in my awesomely reflective sunglasses.

A couple of weeks later my best friend from AZ came out to visit me. We had a rockin' good time. We saw Spamalot, we took a paddle boat in central park, ate at Serendipity, Grimaldi's, and even had some Rice to Riches. I had been waiting to get more pictures from Jessica to include in the blog, but I don't know when that is going to happen. I will have to share later.

Lookin' good Jessica. Hanging out in Brooklyn
before we walked the bridge.

Typical Jessica.

Proof that I was actually there.

Then in July, a group of us made a trip up to the Bronx Zoo. I had wanted to go for awhile and it was a great day to go see the animals. Great weather, great friends, monkeys...what else do you need.

Monkeys.

Who knows what???

More monkeys.

Later in July, I finally made it out to the beach (are really beach, not like last year. Oh dear! What an adventure that was). We had a nice group of us go out to Long Beach. I even actually got to do some surfing as well (sorry no pics for proof). I still need to have another lesson though.

Here is part of the group that went to the beach.
Adam, Kristian, Kelly, Martin, me, Genevieve, and Mark.
Not pictured, Adam's brother, Michael Mulcock, Libby
Kristian's sister and brother-in-law.

Me, Vieve, and Kelly after a fun day at the beach.

Oh, might I add that that was the day Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows came out. Before we went to the beach we stopped at Kmart to get some beach towels and whatnot, and that's when I snapped up my copy of HP 7, though I was still half-way through book 6. I did, however, finish reading book 6 a week later and then finished book 7 a week after that. I love it soo much.

And finally, just this last weekend, though another trip to the beach was planned, a trip to Governor's Island was made instead. I had wanted to go for awhile and it was a beautiful day to be outside and enjoy the weather. Once again, a group of us got together and just chilled and had a good time. And I might add that there are some wonderful views of the city from the island.

William's Castle, where they kept prisoners and
such when the island was still a military base.

And Crystal, you'll remember our good friend Thomas Jones.
Yep, he is back in the city, though we haven't taken a ride
on the Staten Island ferry yet since he has been back.

All in all, besides getting sick every month or so, it has been another amazing summer in the city. I still can't believe my second summer in the city it is almost over. However, in a couple of weeks I will have some pictures to share of my trip home to the desert, but until then, this is Kimcast signing out.

Oh yes, I remember Thomas. Is the friendship braclet still in existence? Good times, good times. I'm sure many more good times are to be had with the fella.

KimCast, I love waht you have done with the blog. I think we need some more color on the background (says the blogger who never blogs). I especially love the wall street pic....nice.
