Hello to our nation's capitol!
This past Friday after work, I took a bus (I would gladly
take megabus again) and headed down to D.C. to hang
out with my friend Jana. She and I went to the same high school,
we both went to BYU, and now have both ended up on the East Coast.
I hadn't been to D.C. in years (over 7 years to be exact), so to
go see Jana and visit the District of Columbia was a nice break
from my usual weekend activities here in the city.
So what did I do on my visit? On Saturday, after not getting too
much sleep the night before, we headed to some of the tourist
attractions I had never visited. First up??
The D.C. Zoo!
First Jana and I reacquainted ourselves with our inner tigers.
(our high school mascot was the tiger)
Nice Kitty!

to go from the Ape House to the Think Tank.
Jana and I just happen to be walking by when a couple
of orangutans were coming across.
After spending the morning at the zoo, we met up
with Jana's ward at the Mall for a picnic
and games. We came too late, but made an appearance
and then went and got some lunch.
After lunch, we headed to the National Cathedral.
We were too late to see the inside (we would go the next day
after church), so we checked out the Bishop's Garden and such.
Cathedrals always blow my mind with the
amount of detail and beauty that are put into them.
I'll let you just enjoy these pics.
Saturday night we went to the French Embassy for a big
Summer Solstice celebration. There was food, musicians,
street performers including a fire dancer who caught his
dreadlocks on fire for a second. Kind of funny.
Good times were had, but I didn't take any pictures
except the one. Jana so cute.

That sounds fun! Thanks for the sight seeing ideas. You will definately need to make another trip down there when I live there! :) (OR... we could make the trip to come see you!)
Hi Kim! I thought you would get a kick out of this. So Maeley insisted on watching Enchanted a couple days ago. She loves that movie. I was busy working but stopped for a short time to sit with her. She started quoting the movie! Don't you think she's starting a little early?
