As some of you may know, our company finally decided to join a corporate soccer league. When I received the news I was pretty ecstatic. It is an indoor co-ed league (I prefer regular outdoor soccer, but hey, I'll take what I can get). So far we have had two games. The first game we didn't do so hot, losing 11-3 or something along those lines. This week, however, yielded much better results. I believe we ended up winning 8-5, with three of those goals scored by none other than little ole' me (yes, I pulled a hat trick, which I was pretty excited about).
Now, I'm not here to boast and brag about my soccer skills (though it is my blog and I can write whatever I want), but the title of this post isn't called Hat Tricks or Pulling a Rabbit out of my Hat or something along the lines of magic, hats, or pulling of any sort. No, this post is about something else that I acquired during the game.
Before the game had started, somehow the subject of bruises, etc came up. I chimed in with the fact that I always loved it when the soccer ball hit you so hard on your leg that it would leave an imprint of the ball and you had a lovely "soccer ball patch" mark/bruise. Well, of course as soon as I said this, I had a feeling that I probably jinxed myself...which of course is what happened. We were playing against a bunch of angry Russian dudes and during a play where the other teams defender was in the corner, I had gone up against him and he booted the ball quite hard and the it hit me right on my left leg right above my knee...
