A Visit from the "Little" Brother

After several visits from the sister and the
parents, a brother finally came and visited
me in New York. I moved to the city the summer
before Marc left on his mission and having just got home
in December and hittin' the books again back at BYU
staring in January, he was finally able to make a visit
during the break between Summer term and Fall semester.

Having never been to the city, or really traveled on his
own before, I was a nice sister and went and picked him
up at the airport. First picture of the visit taken on the
Long Island Rail Road, which I've discovered is a great
way to get to JFK (decent price and with the air train
gets you to the airport in 30-40 minutes).
Waiting at 34th St/Penn Station for the subway.
We were both very ready for bed
(around 12:30am at this point).
So day one of Marc's visit, our first stop was a
scrumptious breakfast at Max Brenner's. We both
got the Wow, which was amazing, but really sweet.
Then it was off to Time Square.
First we made a quick visit to Toys R' Us.
Then we went and bought tickets to see a
Broadway show for that evening. After making
our purchase, we walked up to Central Park and
also made a stop by the temple since we were
in the area. Hello Angel Moroni.
After our walk, we went back home to freshen
up a bit and then it was off to see a taping of the
Late Show with David Letterman. We got great
seats thanks to a coworker and we had a great time.
After Letterman and before heading back to Time
Square, we went to dinner at one of my favorite
places, Eatery. It had been awhile since I had their
delicious white cheddar meatloaf. Delicious!

Then it was off to see West Side Story.
I didn't quite remember the story really well,
and Marc only knows the movie version, so
it was nice seeing the actual stage version of
the show. I wouldn't say it was my favorite
Broadway show I've seen, but a very
good production nonetheless.
Time Square!
On Friday, Marc and I, after grabbing a quick
breakfast, went and did a session at the temple.
It was the first time that we had been to the temple
together since I received my endowments while
he was in Cambodia. It was nice experience.

After the temple, we met up with Brittany at
Madison Square Park for some Shake Shack.
(sorry no pictures). It was a pretty warm day
and after getting kind of sweaty in our church
clothes, we went home to change. Then it was
off to the Met, where silliness ensued!

Oh my back!
When in doubt, pinky out. Now that's fancy.
Hey ya!
Marc, why is that guy on your head?
What a hike! Need to do a little stretchin'.
Right to the heart!
You'll shot your eye out kid.
Dad, I think you know this gun.
I love your pretty little guns Marc.
A taste of Cambodia.
After getting our fill at the Met, we went to
Lombardi's to fill our stomachs. The pizza was
delicious as always and may I recommend getting
the pizza with sausage, garlic spinach and ricotta cheese.
So good! After dinner, of course we had to stop across
the street and pick up some Rice to Riches to eat at
home while we watched a movie (maybe the movie was
The Care Bears Nutcracker Suite...just maybe).

Saturday of course started off with brunch (for some
reason I didn't take a lot of pictures at meals this time
around). Brittany, Marc and I went to Mesa Grill, owned
by Chef Bobby Flay. Marc enjoyed his spicy scramble
while Brittany and I enjoyed our tostada scramble.

After attempted to visit the Guggenheim Museum (there was
a super long line), Marc and I decided to walk around Central
Park instead and also visit the zoo there. Brittany didn't join us,
but she was kind enough to go get tickets for us to see another
Broadway show (we were going to see Stomp, but it was sold out,
so we got tickets for something else, but more about that later).

The zoo was great fun. I didn't realize how many exhibits
they actually had there. For the most part, the animals were
very lively as well, so that was fun.

The polar bear enjoy doing laps in his pool.
He kept swimming back and forth and back and forth.
Marc hanging with the birds.
Tucan Sam!
Some sort of monkey.
A lemur.
Penguins!
A puffin.
Our favorite part of the zoo was watching
the sea lions. They were so entertaining.
Kissy kissy!
I'm ready for my close up, Mr. Devil!
Smack!
Dive!
After a long day in the park, we headed home
and cleaned up, order in some food, and then
went off to see another show...Shrek the Musical!
I definitely recommend this show. The show
was so much fun and the set and cast were amazing.
It is a very entertaining show for kids of all ages!

Before heading home, after the show we stopped
at Roxie's Deli and had some dessert.

Hello Brittany!

Of course on Sunday, we went to Church.
Afterward, we walked around the neighborhood,
had some dinner, and rode the Staten Island Ferry,
so Marc could see Lady Liberty.

Waiting for the ferry.
And we're off.
Marc was pretty tired.
Sunday night, after getting home, we had to
watch the Chipmunk Adventure. It's a favorite
of ours. We watched it all the time growing up.

Monday was the last day of Marc's visit. We really
only had that morning before we needed to head to
the airport. Marc couldn't leave without visiting
the Empire State Building!
We also made a quick visit to Grand Central, and
our course we bought some Black and White cookies
from Junior's (hopefully you got some of those Kari
and Marc H...I never asked if Marc shared them with you).

Then a quick stop at Ground Zero before having a quick
bite to eat and heading to the airport.
Thanks again Marc. It was fun to finally have a brother come and visit.
